But I'm A Good Christian

How many times have you heard, “They’re lucky I’m a good Christian” ? But how many people are actually good Christians as defined by the Bible? I would guess that maybe 95% of Christians are selective. I define selective Christianity as a Christian who judges other people and religions based on their actions and beliefs; when in fact, they are the ones who should look inside and see their own errors. Who’s to say that as a “good Christian,” you can overlook other values as if they do not exist.

There are so many clichés that we all make fun of, the promiscuous deacon of the church, club-goers on Saturday/church-goers on Sunday, and the woman getting married in white with her child participating in the wedding (the jig is up!). Many people are quick to judge others without focusing on their own faults. The percentage of self-proclaimed “good Christians” that lie, cheat, steal, and fornicate are let’s say, HIGH! There’s a little part in the bible I think called the Commandments that covers most of those topics if I’m not mistaken.

Passing judgment on other religions is also something that has always bothered me. No one knows beyond a doubt that their religion is right, so how does one have the right to criticize another? “But it was told unto him by God.” For all I know, that guy was stroking a monkey high on PCP while he was writing…My point is, following like sheep is no way to live. Live your life according to your own will without judging others. You might chase the most beautiful people away. Be responsible!

Letter To BET

Dear BET,

I am a disgruntled viewer. I have tried to bear with you, but I can't do it anymore. Over these past few years, your programs have constantly contributed to the dumbing down of Black America. I remember the days when your programming was diverse, intelligent, and actually enjoyable to everyone. I'm 19, and I feel I have no place to go to watch good shows that pertain to me. I guess the days of the great Black sitcoms like Martin, Living Single, and The Cosby Show are dead.
I'm tired of the same old music videos and the same old reality shows. The reality show era has single- handedly consumed BET. You have been bamboozled! I remember when there were shows like Oh Drama, Teen Summit, and The Jeff Johnson Chronicles that actually discussed relevant issues. You had shows like Hits From The Street that made me laugh. Midnight Love used to give the the real side of R&B, not all this autotune/electronic stuff there is now. Rap City used to educate every Thursday with Throwbacks. There's nothing worse than a generation that has no idea where it came from. They have no idea that these "new hits" sample songs from the '80s and '90s.
Bring back shows like Hey Monie! Create an intelligent adult animated series. Bring back Monday night Arabesque Movies! Bring back classic Saturday morning cartoons! The only thing you've done right lately is bring back The Game. Another point I might add, 106&Park hasn't been great since Free & AJ left. It's weak! BET, I'll need you all to get it together. A complete reconstruction is much needed. Until then, your channel will remain a joke. That is all.

Hate Hate, Go Away...But You'll Come Back Again Someday

King Hater- Bill O'Reilly

Hate exists in all shapes, sizes, shades, and species. I'm sure somewhere out there a raccoon is hating on a squirrel. People hate on their acquaintances, friends, family members, and sometimes people are even jealous of their own children. Is it human nature that we resort to jealousy when we covet what someone else has?

I'm saying there's degrees of hate out there...fair, mild, supreme, and damn you hateful. Even the holiest of people at least exist on the fair level. No one can honestly say that they have never been jealous or hated on someone in their lifetime. If you disagree, than you're lying to yourself. Even I have been known to hate one or twice, but I'm being real about the situation.

The next time you hear yourself talking bad about someone who really doesn't deserve it, stop and ask yourself, Why am I hating? You may find it's out of your own jealousy. It's ok as long as it's recognized. Upgrade your life, and you will be the one with the clear conscience. Be the hero and you will come out ahead in the end. Take this quote into perspective, " You can die a hero or live long enough to watch yourself become the villian.."
